The 4.5.1 release of GI-go, with support for GBIF, is left available, until all functionalities will be implemented in the new version:

This software is distributed in two flavours:

• a Web Start version, that should download and start automatically (otherwise check the Java plug-in settings in your browser). "Writing permission denied" can also occur depending on WebStart configuration (check for correct configuration and/or correct privileges on user home dir)

• an executable Java ARchive (JAR) file, if you prefer to store and launch the application manually (double clicking the JAR file should work, otherwise try java -jar <JAR_FILENAME>).

Please note that you need a JRE environment installed on your system. If you don't have it already you need to download it from the Sun site and install it.

The following table summarizes the recommended distribution to use, depending on your operating system and Java runtime environment.

Please note that the only JVM supported is the Sun for Windows and Linux system.

The  release notes provide a list of the implemented improvements, along with known bugs/limitations.
